We are very proud of the achievements of our children, the standards of our pre-school and the quality of our staff.
Altarnun Pre-School aims to give your child the best start in life by laying solid foundations for future learning, where children can explore the world around them, establish friendships, develop imagination, share, co-operate with others, gain confidence to initiate and try out new ideas, seek new challenges, make new discoveries; and most of all have great fun and develop a love of learning.
Our experienced and dedicated staff help the children to become successful learners, confident individuals and effective contributors to society. Children learn through play and planned activities with a balance of free choice.
We are registered with OFSTED to provide part-day care, welcoming children from two years to five years, there are various different funding options available, to find out more visit Childcare Choices
My Name is Roz and I'm the Pre-School Manager. I have worked at Altarnun Pre-School since March 2018. I manage the setting, staff and work closely with our management committee. I'm also the settings SENCO and Safeguarding officer.
I love seeing how children learn and develop in confidence and I enjoy supporting them in their friendships and promoting their independence. I have a particular interest in child psychology and behaviour and I have over 15 years’ experience of working with children and have worked in management roles for 7 of those years. I also have experience of working with children with SEN and the relevant supporting professionals. I have a little boy who is six years old and enjoy taking him and our dog on days out and long walks in our beautiful local area.

My name is Tracey and I’m the deputy Pre-School Manager working closely with Roz and Kayleigh in the day to day running of the pre-school. I have worked within a pre-school and early years setting, for 16 years, and my roles have included preschool assistant, preschool deputy leader and preschool leader. I am currently the Deputy Manager for Altarnun Preschool where I have worked since December 2018. I have a passion for working with children, and I thoroughly enjoy my job. I find it inspirational to introduce the children to their environment, especially outdoors, where they can explore and wonder using all five of their senses. Reading stories to children is also a favourite activity of mine, and I relish the time spent sharing books and story sacks with everyone. My hobbies are walking, reading and looking after my rescue chickens, some have visited the preschool, and I currently own eight feathered friends.

The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage emphasises the importance of key relationships for children, including those relationships between children, their parents/carers and a key person within a setting. At Altarnun Pre-School we recognise and value the importance of these relationships and allow plenty of time, opportunities and experiences for strong relationships to build.
By implementing and maintaining an established key worker system, children's individual needs, interests and passions for learning will be observed and recorded to ensure we can effectively meet them and care for the children to the best of our abilities, helping them to feel safe, secure and settled at our Pre-School.
Our secret to successful, strong relationships with our children and their parents/carers, will be through our thorough settling in process, which will allow each child enough quality time to get to know the whole team, their new surroundings at pre-school and most importantly their key worker.
